The people of South East today rose in one voice to condemn in
totality the incessant attack on their land and the destruction of their
property by suspected Fulani Herdsmen.
Speaking at the peaceful protest organized by the Christian
Association of Nigeria Enugu State, Bishop Obi Onubogu of Grace
Cathedral Enugu described the attack as a bad omen. He declared that
this is the last of the herdsmen and Igbos will stop them for good.
A popular cleric in Enugu, Arch Bishop Austin Nwodika called on Igbos
to be vigilant and be ready to defend their selves and their land.
He said the proposal of ranch or grazing land for cattle in Igbo land
is totally unacceptable and that Igbos will resist it even if it means
with the last drop of their blood.
“They cannot come to our land, grab our land to build ranches and grazing centre, we asay no to this.Igbos
in the north hustled and paid for their shops over there in the north,
therefore nobody has the right to grab our land for grazing for cattle”
Bishop Nwodike laments.
Some of the protesters NARRATOR.ng spoke to decried the position of
governors of some South East States who are agreeing to allotting lands
in Igbo land for grazing or for ranch.
They promised that they will resist the move as they told al l herdsmen to go back to the north and build their ranch there.
